There's not a lot to see but you do get the impression of what would have stood there nearly 2000 years ago. Fascinating to see how the river Tees has moved. Good picnic spot, 5 mins for car park. If not stopping - 30 mins...More

Found by accident when driving past but well worth the detour. Well maintained with good signposting and access . Gave a good solid insight into Roman history of the area and in particular the role the fort played locally and in northern development. We also...More

An interesting site giving a good idea of the Roman settlement that once stood at Piercebridge. There is informative signage throughout both sites, Bridge and Fort, and the locations of both are quite atmospheric. It is an easy walk from one site to the other.

We stayed at the George Hotel in Piercebridge, where the Roman Bridge is just situated off the main car park. We walked down to it along side the river, which was very pleasant. We took some photos and walked back.

Found by accident on a stroll through the lovely village. We found this to be a very interesting and well tended villa. The information boards were excellent. Well worth a look but don't wear flimsy shoes!
