I've done this hike 4 times, and I think it is probably my favorite hike in the world. It starts off as an easy stroll through beautiful scenery, until you get to the top of a gorge. And then it is time to jump of cliffs into beautiful pools of water, for the next 2 hours! You jump off of waterfall after waterfall, with the highest jump 14 meters. And once you start, there is not going back.
You must go with someone who knows the pools, because there is one after the highest 14 meter jump that looks like a great jump, but there is a big rock in it, so you must know not to jump there, there are no signs. You have to hike around that one.
Also, there are two exits, the first exit is soon after the last jump. The other exit is following the river down for another two hours, swimming in large pools of water for long distances, getting in and out of the water in your wet shoes and clothes numerous times (make sure to start very early, cause it starts to get cold and everything you bring will be soaking wet.) Then eventually you get to a large manmade pipe, where you leave the water, hike up a large peak and finally make it back to where you started. It is a long 8 - 10 hours. But amazing!
Don't forget to do the bum slide before the first jump.

Hi, me and a few friends want to do this hike I. The next week or two. We are experienced hikers but we have never done suicide gorge. It it really necessary to go with a guide? They are very expensive. Does anyone here know which jumps.should be avoided?

Hi there, how far is it to the decent rock jumps? We wont have 8 hours available, so are thinking of a 2-4 hour hike. Thanks

This is impossible, the hike to the gorge is already 2 - 3 hours and once you go beyond the first jump, there is no return possible. the gorge is another 3 hours and the hike back again a 2 hours or more.
