About
The St. Lucia Golf Club is the 18-hole Championship course of St. Lucia. The undulating par-71 only plays 6,685 yards off the blues, but the course attracts a USGA rating of 74.3, taking into account the strong winds, numerous water hazards, and 16 out-of-bounds. The 20,000 sq. ft. Clubhouse is located just five minutes from Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay, within a short distance of Castries. The Club features a well-stocked bar, restaurant, duty-free pro-shop, drinks cart, halfway house and driving range.

They hold very loud events at the driving range in a residential area that causes a lot of traffic and noise pollution to all of the residence and Taurus so like do not go here!

As avid golfers, we were keen to play golf in St Lucia. We were cautious after reading the many poor reviews of the club but decided to give it a try in the hope that the new Sandals management of the course would have tackled the issues highlighted previously.

Unfortunately, we had a miserable experience. The driving range was closed, the greens had just been verticut and top dressed and were in absolutely miserable condition. There were maintenance issues throughout the men's changing rooms and clubhouse. Buckets collecting water under leaking faucets, electrical outlets with no covers and wires dangling.

The fairways reminded me of a 1-star public course in California. I would have expected much better, given how lush and tropical St Lucia is and how well the gardens and lawns are kept in the resorts.

Beyond that, golf etiquette by the greenskeepers was non-existent. For the first four holes, the greens keepers were mowing around us as we teed off.

We ordered a sandwich and a coffee at the turn and they were not able to have the sandwich made by the chef while we waited; they said that they would bring it to us on the course. We received our snacks on hole 15!

The only positive was that the rental clubs were new, but for $225 per person including rentals, which included our resort "discount", this was an absolute waste of money.

A golf club this bad should not pretend that they are an elite facility.

We were scammed. My wife is extremely fashion and protocol conscious. She wears designer clothes for golf. When we arrived she was bluntly refused her tee time … because her beautiful golf blouse did not have a collar. No propr warning at the Resort or on their website. She was forced to buy a ridulously onerpriced Whit garbage shirt and wear it to play.

A totally shameful, blatant rip-off. Ripping off the tourists. Disgusting.

Ruined our golf and our entire day.

I wanted to provide an updated review as I believe many of the former are out of date.

Renovations and conditions:
The course is fully open post renovations. It’s in very good condition tee to green. A few very minor nit picks on a few greens but nothing worth complaining about.

Design / architectural interest:
The layout uses the topography pretty well and has a few good to very good holes. It opens with two par 5s which is a bit odd. And the first is a v tight, blind tee shot…sort of the opposite of a “handshake” opener. But then again, it is a Norman design. Not exactly known as a top echelon architect. And tbh, that’s probably the weakest part of the course. Some fairly bland holes that don’t enhance or utilize the dramatic backdrops and elevation changes. I thought the par 3s were strong and the dogleg 12th par 4 was superb in strategy. The fairways in March were firm and fast - something to consider due to narrowing at landing spots for driver. I lost two drives that hit the middle of the fairway bc they bounced hard and rolled into hazards. The course rating from the blues at 72.9 / 136 seems about right as the greens tend to have a lot of movement in them and are often uphill / semi forced carry on multiple occasions. And it’s usually windy. We had a steady 12-15 mph to add to the challenge.

Cost / rentals:
I prob would not pay the non-sandals fee to play here. (Think it’s about $150 plus $25 cart per person). As a resort guest with free shuttle and $25 per person cart fee, it was totally worth it. I brought my clubs (free checked bag) so there’s that to consider. The rental clubs are BRAND NEW Titleist. Saw t300 and TSi woods in are group. At $50 per person it’s not terrible. Again... assuming your greens fee is free and you don’t want to haul your clubs there.

Final takeaway:
Very good conditions
Some dramatic backdrops and elevation changes.
Free greens fee for sandals guests.
5 min from the “Grand”, but up to an hour with traffic from Halcyon.
New rentals.
Ok design.
Tough course for beginners.
Good challenge for better players.
7/10

Decided not to play again manly based on the traffic to get there. A main road was closed during our stay which was causing a lot of jams.

The golf course was in great condition. The pace of play was on time. The houses on the golf course are something to look at. The Mountain View are amazing. Would recommend to any golfer and will be playing this course again

Very nice golf course, much better then expectations. Long well kept, very narrow so challenging. Staff unfortunately sloppy and not helpful. Really demotivated, no water on the carts, no service around. But I can live with it.

Renting clubs a very expensive option 75usd , but they are new and good quality.

Way overpriced for what you get. The course is not the best, as it rains often in St Lucia. The course is very wet and you must stay on cart path. 9 holes and 18 holes is the same price. Wouldn’t make the drive for this course.

Firstly can I say I am a member at Gleneagles and Turnberry both in Scotland . My friend and I played this course 4 times over our stay in StLucia between Nove 23 -Dec 6. The course was in outstanding condition a few sandy bits but nothing to worry about. Both of us cannot praise the staff ,the course is set up to play .Everything about this course and clubhouse and all the staff are outstanding THANKS EVERYONE for a great time.

This golf course has only 17 holes open yet still charge $200 per head. The condition of the course is terrible with almost no grass on many fairways. The original Greg Norman design has been tampered with moving greens around leaving the course a complete failure. Please please save yourself an appalling experience and keep you clubs in the car.

We heard good things about the golf course. We paid for golf and rental clubs. The coat was $250 US per person.

First, the clubs were in terrible condition.
I understand them being used but the grips were frayed and uncomfortable.

The golf carts were ok but we were not given towels.

There were no ball washers on the course.

We saw the beverage cart on the first hole and then never again.

The most important thing was the course was in terrible shape. The fairways have not been maintained at all. There was different grass and patchy.

Greens were ok but very hard.

The experience was really disappointing.

My recommendation is don’t pay to play here. Sandals bought the club but clearly has done no work or maintenance.

Stay away.
