Although Caerleon is a small town, it has some remarkable Roman archaeology including an amphitheatre, barracks and baths. The museum has a reconstruction of a Roman villa with medicinal plants. The sites are within close proximity to each other although not very well signposted. The Priory...More

Have visited many Roman remains throughout Europe and in all honesty many are better and more extensive than this one. As an amphitheatre it's quite plain and no obvious seating. I would not make a point of visiting this in isolation as it's not worth...More

The Amphitheatre wasn't open on the day of our visit, but we still go a good impression of it from the path, it does look impressive

We viewed this open air site from the car park due to weather conditions. It is an interesting ruin and you should see it if you in Carleon - but it is not really worth a detour.

I live a few miles from the Roman amphitheatre and museum in Caerleon and have visited many times. The amphitheatre is reached via a one-way road system in Caerleon and although some preservation has been carried out, it is not as spectacular as the one...More

The information boards are interesting and informative. The parking is standard and it is easy to get to. The highlight of the amphitheatre is simply the feeling you have when you're there. There's something awe inspiring about it. It's also very cool that the person...More

We visited today as our eldest is learning about Romans in school. It isn’t as big as you would imagine it to be! There is barely any information there, which is a shame. It would have been great to understand what we were looking at...More

You don’t have to go to Rome with this on the doorstep. You get the full feel for the place when you stand in the middle and just let your imagination run off a bit. It must have been formidable in the day, also knowing...More
