We gave this museum a visit after coming across information of our ancestors living in this area. Over 80 years ago my grandfather worked in the coal mines and my grandmother sewed the fingers into the Sanquar gloves like the ones on display. Well worth...More

For a wee place, there is a lot of history! There are lots of cases and displays plus a slideshow and commentary. I like Admirable Crichton’s story but there was plenty more of interest.

Very interesting museum and Rab was great at showing us around. He was very informative and obviously interested in sharing the history of the town. Our young boys (6&4) loved it and and had a fun time doing the Lego treasure hunt.

The day we visited Rab was working; a charming man full of knowledge of the history of the area and more than willing to give us additional information about the exhibits.

No entrance fee to this small compact local museum. Well worth a visit and even the children will find it of interest. Gives a great insight into past times within Sanquhar and the surrounding area. If the kids play up just threatened them with a...More
