Our enthusiastic, knowledgeable tour guide shared the history and story of the world's greatest cheese. The cave tour is free and well worth the visit, especially for the samples at the conclusion. We had to refrain from buying a half-wheel to smuggle home in our...More

You will like it if you have right expectations. Note that 1) they only have a few tours per day in English, 2) what you see is their historic caves, not the modern production line (although you will see it too in one of two...More

The village itself is fairly uninspiring but it's evident everywhere that this is the home of the cheese. We chose Papillion because it was the first we came across and there was no charge. The journey through the caves was quite atmospheric but disappointingly, no...More

Really enjoyed the cheese tasting and came back with lots of it but very disappointed that there was nothing in the caves other than empty shelves to see during the underground tour.

OK. I'm biased. I adore Papillon cheese, so I was never likely to be disappointed. When you arrive in Roquefort, you are guided towards the Societe site, which seems to have the only car park and which charges for visits. So it's a little difficult...More
