The free tour starts with 2 short videos, the first from long ago to show the ancestral way of producing Roquefort, and a recent one showing the evolution. The rest of the visit takes place in the caves themselves. The tour ends with tasting their...More

Our enthusiastic, knowledgeable tour guide shared the history and story of the world's greatest cheese. The cave tour is free and well worth the visit, especially for the samples at the conclusion. We had to refrain from buying a half-wheel to smuggle home in our...More

The village itself is fairly uninspiring but it's evident everywhere that this is the home of the cheese. We chose Papillion because it was the first we came across and there was no charge. The journey through the caves was quite atmospheric but disappointingly, no...More

Really enjoyed the cheese tasting and came back with lots of it but very disappointed that there was nothing in the caves other than empty shelves to see during the underground tour.
