Right next to the Carriages cafe so convenient to do both. Very small museum focussed on the local Borders history. Amazed to discover my family connection to the Border Reivers, which was fascinating.

The chap in this centre was absolutely charming and enthusiastic about this lovely historic museum and welcomed us all. Everyone helping there were pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Very interesting account of local history in lovely surroundings.

We were visiting the Carriage Tea rooms and were offered a visit here at a discounted party rate. The volunteer staff were very friendly and welcoming. The guy who gave the introductory talk was very knowledgeable and everyone enjoyed his information. Being pensioners they really...More

The museum is quite small and the prices quite high which losers it a star. It is well presented but I think anyone would be pressed to spend as much as an hour inside.

A LOT of great effort has been put in to making so much local information accessible to all. Very creative displays, and ways of interacting with things, listening to voices from the past, finding out about railways, reivers, sheep-farming, school life at Brown Rigg etc....More

Very interesting small museum displaying lots of local artefacts especially the long gone local railway network (Gret pity it is no longer there as it would make a fascinating journey and certainly be major tourist attraction.) and farming heritage. Shown around by a little old...More

We were interested in family history, particularly the Border Reivers. The Heritage Centre was a mine of information with computer support. The reception staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Well worth setting aside an hour or more.
