This is well worth the short detour from the main road. It is very atmospheric and had a good variety of ducks, including a rare Lesser Scaup. Parking is limited and, at this time of year, it is essential to wear wellies! The track down...More

Well we didn't really expect a sword...thought there is always the next time. A early winter visit and full kit needed very big along the paths. The pool shone in winter sun and small waves rippled on the surface and then another diamond a Ring...More

A bit hard to find a route to it exactly and the road is not suitable for disabled. However if you take your time and are determined it is a quiet etheral place. You feel you want to reach out and hope the sword rises......More

Our sat nav seemed to send us the extremely long way back to the A30 after having a late lunch at the Jamaica Inn.Although the lake and surrounding areas were quite breathtaking, the roads from the Jamaica Inn to Dozmary were not. There were a few cars...More

We were passing this on the way home and remembered this one of the possible places where excaliber was thrown into the lake so we thought it might be interesting. Was quite a long drive along quiet winding roads. We arrived and basically this was...More

Dozmary pool is in a beautiful location high on Bodmin moor. I don't really recommend it to someone who does not like narrow roads but it is very interesting and beautiful.

We took a spur of the moment detour to Dozmary Pool, having read about its supposed association with the myth of King Arthur and Excalibur. Road signage is poor, but the site is reachable by GPS navigation. Close to the pond, you will drive on...More

When you approach this tranquil setting by foot (god help you if you choose to do so by car, as you'll likely find yourself down a single narrow lane of road, with the sides of your vehicle scraping against the walls of bramble), the solitude...More

We stopped in the layby and had a walk down to have a look, the sun was shining and the water was a lovely blue colour. Dozmary Pool is less than a mile from the A30 and flows into nearby Colliford Lake. According to legend,...More

When the weather is sunny this pool is a bright blue colour. On gloomier days it's a murky grey. Not much else around to see, just the moor itself, and Jamaica Inn for refreshments. Occasionally there might be an ice-cream van about on hot days.
