The pier is nothing spectacular, but there are some nice views of the Town and the harbour. If you are into photography its worth the walk along the pier to get some shots of the boats and the town.

It's a concrete pier less than 30 years old that partly encloses the marina. It has a high wall on the seaward side that provides shelter from the wind and completely obscures any sea views. No refreshment kiosks, no views (except a car park and...More

Okay, I'm going to try and remain calm. We took American friends here. We walked along the pier and it was nice. Lots of nice scenery. ONE tiny, hidden away plaque to tell us it is the Eisenhower Pier! It's easily missable and when you...More

The history's ok but it's really the views that matter. As you walk the pier, you can look longingly at the boats. From the end of the pier, up on the top, you can look across the lough, even across to Scotland on a clear...More

The Eisenhower pier is so named because the Supreme Allied commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower visited Bangor to review the troops and ships gathered in Bangor Bay prior to launching the D-Day landings in June 1944. Nowadays the original pier he stood on is long...More

Named the Eisenhower Pier because the great man once used it, but it's just another large concrete pier enclosing the marina. In fact it's so large that you can't see over it. Nice for a 5 min stroll in the evening to see the marina...More
