Lovely little market town with a nice selection of shops and a decent sized Morrison’s. We didn’t visit the castle runs but sat on a bench outside with an ice cream. I think that if entrance fees were lower, more people would visit and the...More

We were staying on the Caravan & Motorhome Club site just outside, there are paths to walk in to town from the site but it was a bit far for me. Impressive castle over the river and a very narrow traffic light controlled bridge across...More

Barney has it all, old and historic monuments, shops ranging from antiques to specialist, and a great farmers market 1st Saturday of the month.

We visited as a family with 5 young children they enjoyed exploring the grounds. There was information boards around the grounds to explain the history.

Lovely day in this market town. Plenty shops with a good variety on offer. On Wednesday a good market sets up in the centre. Good cafes and plenty of pubs. Lots of parking available .

We went here and it is a lovely big house with lots of unusual antiques collected by the owners over the years. There is also a good fashion section of the lady that was the owner really tiny waist and beautiful gowns. The highlight of...More

We had intended on visiting the castle but it was too hard to find where to park, not to mention the car GPS thought you could park inside and tried to get us to drive in to the pedestrian area. The site needs much better...More

Nice Castle Ruins. Admission was around £6 or free if you were a British Heritage member. Not a huge amount to see and the sensory garden could have done with some upkeep but a nice place to visit for an hour or so. Dogs were...More

Indeed it is a lovely place. However to someone who lives in a tropical country sunny all year long, when you go to BC in winter time, when it is raining, dark, short days, it is very different. ;)
