About
Temporary closed. The East Riding Treasure House is a heritage centre providing museum, library and archive facilities under one roof, plus access to the adjoining Edwardian exhibition spaces of the Beverley Art Gallery. From September 2023, the building will be closed to allow building works to be carried out in the existing library. We expect to re-open in September 2024.

This was a lovely find in Beverley. With 2 children under 5 there were activities in the museum and art gallery to keep them entertained and engaged. Items to encorage them to explore, toys to play with, colouring, books to read, displays to create, dressing up boxes and puppets all relevant to the displays. The viewing tower was good too. Totally free, clean toilets and a cafe. Would thoroughly recommend a visit

Went specifically to see the LEGO Architecture exhibition. Great models especially of St Pancras station. Lots of other buildings from around the world that we were aware of or one or both of us had visited so great for bringing back memories of holidays.
Cafe was fine for a coffee afterwards - Latte and Americano both decaff with "proper" (beans) not instant coffee.

I basically just wanted some souvenir pens to take home so followed the signs to Tourist Information and there we found this very unusual looking building, the East Riding Treasure House, and so glad we did.
Unbeknown to us there was a Lego exhibition (free in) which was so interesting, and on the way in a smaller display of 1970's/Glam Rock items which took me back to my youth. I just wish we'd gone earlier so we could have stayed longer . A hidden gem (by the way I did get my pens too!). Will go back next time I am in Beverley - well worth a look.

Thank you for your kind review. We are really pleased you found us and enjoyed your visit. We will be closing for a year at the end of August 2023 due to major building work being carried out in the library, but are due to re-open in September 2024. Keep an eye on our website to stay in touch and get the latest news. Hopefully we'll see you again once the work has been completed.

Love coming here and miss not being able to visit more regularly since am working from home. Always something different here to see and this time was no exception. With permanent collections on display, it is always nice to revisit these pieces and see the latest displays.

Whilst the food is basic and acceptable the place is constantly populated by diary hugging meeting holding non-job council staff. Very difficult to enjoy food whilst looking a how the council tax is wasted.

We visited the treasure house to view the exhibition of Wildlife photography.
Wow, some stunning pictures.
It made me want to polish up my photographic skills.

There was also an exhibition of animal sculpture by a local artist and they were stunning too.
Did not want to leave.

Came to see the photographic exhibition again. Still free! Staff all pleasant and helpful. Buzzing with guests. Viewed some art. Mainly local. Not the best. But photos fab!

Great to hear you came back to view the photos again! They're always worth a second look we think. Yes, our art is mostly local, as we try to represent our county with our collections! We think there are some real beauties in our collection, but we understand they won't all appeal to everyone. We hope you come and see us again, especially when we have new exhibitions up!

I am ashamed to say that this was my first visit to the Lord Roberts Road Library and Art Gallery, and now the treasure house for 40 years. I went after being approached by a volunteer in the town centre giving out information about the photography wildlife exhibition. The photographs as you would expect were great, could have had better lighting and of course it was great to have some of my old brain cells brought back into action looking at the paintings of Beverley by Fred Elwell.
But that was it.
Nothing really special in fact I was disappointed that I could go to the top observation area of the treasure house to have a panoramic view of Beverley.

Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to the Treasure House. We're pleased to hear that you came to visit after so long away. We're sorry if the lighting in the Wildlife Photography exhibition was not what you'd have preferred. We do have to be very careful of the light in our galleries as we often have exhibitions on with some light sensitive objects, and so we only have a certain level of lighting in place for all our exhibitions. As to your inability to go up to the observation area, unfortunately due to health and safety reasons, it is inaccessible to the public as the lift is out of order and currently being repaired from that level. We do apologise that you couldn't go up on your visit, but once the lift is repaired we do hope you come back to enjoy the view!

Thank you for taking the time to review the Treasure House. While it often is just as easy to get hold of info from a home computer, we hope that by coming in, you got a chance to chat to our staff about what you were up to, and maybe gain some useful hints and tips! We hope to see you again soon!

The top floor doesn't look very high, but gives the most amazing view over the entirety of Beverley. There's always an event or exhibition on, and is always worthwhile
