Overview
More
A short 2.6 mile walk on the South West Coast Path around a strategic headland on the River Fowey, used to defend the estuary and harbour for over 2000 years. With terrific sea views, the walk passes a castle built by Henry VIII modified during the Crimean War and Second World War. It also visits 2 small, secluded coves before heading up a woodland path past Daphne du Maurier's 'Manderley'.

Walked the South West Coast path from Fowey to Polkerris and took in St Catherine's Castle as part of the walk - well worth the stop to view these ruins.

the Coast path offers a great way to see the Cornish coast. We used it on several occasions and visited St Catherine's Castle a couple of time. Robust shoes/ boots are needed and the weather can turn quickly.

A steep climb from Ready Money Cove to get here but the view is superb. The defensive importance of this place is obvious. You really do feel like the king of the castle.

Handy car park Pathway just off the carpark. Lovely walk through, quaint cottages and country wide flowers then you come to the coastal path. Once you walk to the end you come to a quaint little beach, beach shop that sells coffee, snacks and ice...More

I have for a number of years sat on my boat in Fowey watching heads appear in the trees of walkers doing their best meerkat impressions as they tackle The National Trust Hall Walk from Polruan to Bodinnick. I decided this year that I was...More

Lovely walk but step climb up. Views were amazing and if you continue on SW coast path you arrive at Polridmouth cove which is quiet but a lovely spot for swimming and sunbathing. No facilities so take a packed lunch and drinks.

This is an amazing walk, no matter where you decide to start and end it. The views are out of this world. It is an AONB with protected status. There are a number of steep ups and downs, but if you get winded, just stop...More
