Since 2006 Encounter Cornwall have been running daily guided canoe trips and kayak hire on the beautiful Fowey River Estuary in Cornwall. We have two 3 hour trips which include a 30 minute refreshment break. Our Creeks & Backwaters tour paddles upriver either side of the High Tide - and our Harbours and Beaches trip paddles down to Fowey Harbour and the sea on the Low Tide. Trips are suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness (happy to walk a couple of miles or so). We also arrange tailor made trips for corporate groups, hen, stag and birthday parties, birdwatchers, etc ... Kayak Hire is available for experienced paddlers and is normally up to 4 hours. All equipment is provided and we include a map and advice on likely routes. Guided trips are led by qualified Fowey River Boatman who are licensed by the Harbour Authority. See our website for dates and prices.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write - and it's always good when complete beginners enjoy themselves enough to want to do it again! Hopefully, you will have the opportunity to return, and we can show you the rest of the river!

Myself, my elderly dad and my three sons recently had a wonderful trip down the river Fowey with encounter Cornwall. What made it even more relaxing and enjoyable, was when we realised it wasn’t going to be suitable for our water and swan loving dogs...More

We're so glad we were able to find a solution - we have borrowed the crates from Carol in the cafe, to see if they would be useful. Your dogs were beautifully behaved and more importantly, calm - but they were happy to see you...More
