The fort is open to the public but found that entry from the north and exit from the south was all that could be done. The view of the Harbour is good and there are works in progress to maintain the castle. Hopefulyl a visitor...More

The walls and fortifications are interesting but some part inaccessible within the fort and difficult to see much externally due to the buildings which had been constructed close to the walls. Only the harbour side was mainly visible externally. No accessible buildings within the fort...More

Great view from cannon ramparts area. There was lot of scaffolding and plastic netting walling off areas, to rebuild the wall. This took away from some viewing areas. Free.

This interesting fort overlooking the harbor in Lerwick is fascinating and full of history. I especially liked to learn how the cannons were arranged at different angles facing the sea so intruding ships were deluded into thinking there were far more guns than there actually...More

Free to wander around this area and get some views of the harbour. Worth doing - particularly on a Sunday afternoon when there was very little open in Lerwick!

Very Easy to walk to and a great view of the harbor. Check out the reserve army unit. Everything in this town is very walkable.

This Fort was built as a protection against the Dutch in 1665. It is in Lerwick’s city center making it easy to visit. Climb up and see the canons and the scenery from a good vantage point.

Centrally located, one quickly understands why is was a valuable spot for harbor defense. The ancient structures take you back to a different time.
