Friendly, helpful and interesting

Headed there with the 3 kids (7, 10 & 13) ... lovely, clean, welcoming entrance and the staff very friendly and helpful. Bought a family pass and well worth it to support the charity. Lots of interactive elements and information to keep the kids interested.
Plenty of hand sanitizer around the place to keep you safe.
Kids enjoyed the art room and there was lots of information to take away re. Wildlife, bee spotting, looking after hedgehogs... I have a couple of weeks worth of info for their home Ed!
There was also a temporary wildlife exhibition with stuffed animals and the chance for kids to dress up etc...
We were approached a couple of times to see if kids were enjoying themselves and had a great chat with one of the gentlemen about the general area of Lymington ....
Would highly recommend!
We parked on Ave road which gave us 3 hours free parking (just a 5 minute walk away)

Very enjoyable lunch
Jun 2021
We had lunch in the cafe and enjoyed friendly service and very tasty food at very good value! We sat outside near the automatic doors and they need sorting as for every ten times they opened customers only used them once!

Very good museum but not that large. Also has a gallery which was closed when we visited. Interesting exhibits but over too soon

A gem not to be missed.

Great little museum with modern interpretation of local history - naval - smuggling - salt trade and much more. Alongside a well presented art space and cafe. This place is a well managed gem. Go there.

We always love visiting the St Barbe! Excellent exhibition at the moment: The Seasons, a really well-curated and fascinating look at the changing year through art

Perfect for coffee and tea.

Not sure what main courses they do but we had a coffee here and the staff were pleasant. My husband loved the tea so much he bought some. Vanilla Redbush and Rhubarb. The teapots are fun design. Quite a talking point.
I'd certainly pop inside before ordering an eccles cakes. It was delicious but really small.

Would not eat there again, but would pop in for a drink
Sep 2020
Popped in today to cafe for a bite to eat and drink, tea and coffee very nice, but however ordered a cheese and tomato toastie which was very small, with hardly any cheese and no side salad, plate looked very empty, felt this was overpriced for what we got, however staff polite and friendly

Excellent museum and Art exhibition
Aug 2020 • Couples
Really great trip to this fascinating museum and art space. The art exhibition was definitely the best bit and had been really well put together. The only slight issue was that we were not allowed to use our student discount even though it says we can on the website but the lady serving wouldn’t take it and we were made to feel awkward.

Time for a light bite for lunch
Feb 2020 • Friends
Met a friend in Lymington today for a catch up, a wander around the shops & then we thought we'd grab a spot of lunch. Having been here before for coffee & cake, I suggested a visit for lunch as I prefer to use independent businesses instead of high street chains. We both opted for salmon pate & toast. We were told there could be a 15 minute wait but that was ok. Actually it wasn't even 10 minutes but really appreciated being told as it could have been an issue if it were a lunch break from work. The pate was delicious & a generous portion along with a small side salad. Great value for £5 too. As I've always found, it was fairly busy but that's because it's a lovely place to visit with friendly, welcoming staff. The museum is of local interest & the gift shop has some quirky finds.

Excellent Tea and cake
Jan 2020
A group of us had coffee and tea in this excellent cafe. The description of the cakes on offer would have been helpful if they had been spelt correctly! When they were served, they were delicious but the tea is weak. It is served in plastic teapots that drip. The cups are small and the teapot drips the tea out but if one is not quick enough, there is spillage.
