We went on a lovely day. The gardens are very well kept even coming up to Autumn we liked all the gardens especially the Japanese garden really stunning always something to see every time we visit.

Not being dog owners we hadn't taken notice of the arrangements for dogs. It appears that they can't be taken into the garden, but there's a small shaded parking area close to the entrance where they can be left in cars.

I would say a couple of hours :-) Plus a visit to the tea room - afternoon tea is amazing.
