From the outside it looks like your generic old man's pub, but do not dismiss it! Upon entering you have the choice of heading into the tap room, a cozier area with a number of seats, usually 10 specially selected hand pumps available with a...More

I was told that this pub offered a warm welcome and that their beers were great, which certainly wasn';t true on my visit. Staff poor, beer worse. Will not go again.

The Grove is a strange one. The selection, range and quality of the beer is as good as you'll find anywhere. The prices are very reasonable. Full marks all round there. But as a pub, I'm less convinced. Don't expect a warm welcome and a...More

The place is quirky but not in an affected way, there’s a great atmosphere and it all feels authentic. I liked the ‘erotic’ art and, err, taxidermy anyway. Has a decent sized back garden too. Excellent choice of beers and the staff are on their...More

I simply cannot believe anybody could give this place a 1* review. The beer range was top drawer and the young lady serving was chatty, funny and amenable. I adored the surroundings, so quirky and dead comfy. Would return a million times over. A nice...More

Went here with a group of old university friends and was bitterly disappointed. This pub wasn't there when we were students in West Yorkshire but we called in after reading the positive reviews. Oh how we wish that we hadn't bothered! The beer is served...More

Every other Monday myself and friends go to the Grove for a few beers. The selection is out of this world so much so that I have to get a tasting tray of 1/3s because I struggle to choose. I love the quirky surroundings...not a...More

If you like flat beer, unhelpful staff, a confrontational landlord and a general miserable time then this is the place for you. There are far better places in Huddersfield for great ale. Avoid at all costs.

A very very good choice of ales with knowledgable helpful staff. A good place to while away an hour or an afternoon.

Have heard a lot about the Grove before this, my first visit. Expectations were high and I am glad to say realised in full. Large pub with a number of rooms each in different decor. Two large bar areas serving a very wide selection of...More

First visit to the Grove, have been to many real ale pubs around the area. The Grove has now become my favourite pub - excellent beer choice and great venue. Will be back often!
