I've been a regular visitor here since it opened more than forty years ago, and called in the other week for the first time in more than a decade. And it remains a thoroughly decent, interesting, well-presented small museum. The historical importance of the large...More

A must see, given that the railway is Darlington's greatest claim to fame. Engines on loan from the National Railway Museum include the original Locomotion Number 1. Plenty more exhibits, models and activities to interest young and old. It's not big, but is well filled,...More

The jewel in the crown is Stephenson's Locomotion engine, but there are plenty of other things to see. The Victorian toilet display is very quirky and there is a fascinating model showing the course of the original railway.
