While it isn't as well-populated as in former years, this traditional indoor market still has much to offer and is certainly worth a browse. The traders are all specialists in their fields, and offer good, friendly service (including advice if needed). The market excels in...More

I would not call it an attraction or somewhere you have got to go, it's nice to look at as you do your shopping but nothing amazing or something to come out of your way to see.

Far smaller than Leeds Market which we are more familiar with but certainly worth a visit if you are in town for the ambiance alone

This is a lovely building and the indoor market has the usual mish mash of good, great and not so great stuff. However definitely worth a visit.

Lovely old, traditional indoor market hall. The actual stalls aren’t great and too many empty stalls, but the building has a lot of architectural merit and the clock tower is very pretty.

Very impressive clock tower and building. Some great stalls in the covered market - the greetings card stall is great and a welcome change from the usual high street shops. Just a shame the outdoor market is no longer located alongside the covered market in...More

The town centre is oriented around the market place and tower. It's a handy visual reference if you can see it from where you are. It was a beautiful day to visit today. Nice and interesting but not as good as Newcastle's Grainger market in...More

This is a lovely example of a Victorian indoor market. I visited on a Saturday and it was buzzing. It looks lovely from the outside with a range of eateries and the impressive architecture continues with the lovely wrought iron frame and decoration inside. The...More
