This tour was very informative thanks to Vanessa. Vanessa has a passion for this area and with her helpers has gathered a mass of information regarding WW2 on the island. Along with doing digs throughout the island she has also gathered much written information about...More

The focus of this museum was more on WW2 history rather than islander cultures. This was disappointing from my perspective. However, that the museum exists at all is a great tribute to the curators. Perhaps more indigenous involvement in this museum could assist its continued...More

This museum is privately owned and operated. It has a great deal of WW11 detail, much unavailable elsewhere. Also in abundance are artifacts from the Torres Strait Island people in their earlier days. There are several models of boats, both native, pearling and other various...More

A great place to include in your tour of the Islands. A superb collection of memorabilia, artefacts, cultural displays & art, well presented. Venessa & Liberty make the tour worthwhile with the tour of the Island - points of interest and historical information

I endorse the previous reviews mentioning Vanessa. She brings the island ww2 history to life and is doing it with heart not as learned from a book. I wish we had taken the time to stay overnight rather than squashing it into the half day.

Make the effort to actually spend a night here so that you can really soak up the museum collection and go on Vanessa's very interesting WW2 focused local tour. Horn Island is worth more than just a quick, part day tour from the mainland or...More
