The library was further along the same street as our hotel so we came across it accidentally. It's a beautiful modern building, apparently risen from the old cinema. It was warm and cosy inside and very welcoming to people of all ages which was refreshing to see.

Great repurposing of the old cinema building, this unique architectural gem is worth a quick walk through. The open space is welcoming and open to the outside with all the windows. Modern and practical, it demonstrates the inventiveness of the Norwegian people.

Accidentally stumbled upon this public archive and library, with its fantastic architecture we had to come in. Inside we found a both lively and quiet library full of students, adults and children alike. The lower floors are for younger children with lots of play areas and things to do, and is quite noisy. As you progress upwards, on the ground floor is a place with all daily newspapers to read, before archives and a proper library ensues, with the top floor being more of a student study space for the University. They have a range of both Norwegian, Saami and English books so I'm sure anyone could get lost in here for hours very easily given the lovely amenities.

Great place to chill and easily accessible in the middle of the city. A very nice place to read and write looking over the harbour, especially during poorer weather. Popular among locals.

great place to chill and read. great vibe. lots of activities for kids and families. not at all like the nyc public libraries of my youth in the 70s - getting shushed all the time by fussy librarians.

It is just great. You feel welcome and you want to explore this library. It is just what a library should be like, an open building, cozy, inviting, well laid out, etc.

Modern friendly library with a fair English selection. Ideal place to kill some time ie waiting for your lodgings to be ready.

This is a very cool building! Visually it looks very cool, and inside there are so many things to just look at and browse through. I'll admit I didn't stay for too long, since the only reason I went to the library was to print some documents. The printer is very easy to use, and is available for anyone, for a fee.

Beautiful architectural building just off the main shopping street in tromso. Remember everything is pretty much shut on a Sunday though.
