The theater is both old and new - founded in the early 19th century and renovated in the 20th for a more modern look outside. The tickets are less expensive than they are in the State Opera. I attended a concert performance of the opera...More

This is the theater were Mozart's Magic Flute was first performed. When we saw it was being offered we decided to attend. This production was rather dark and not like the light comedy, I think was originally intended. Still, the soprano playing the Night Queen...More

Lovely place very special historic Saw the latest Marriage of Figaro - modern production which was totally pretentious with sub text beyond belief and for Vienna, average singing. A great pity .

During the summer fest we were able to see an astonishing production of Cosi fan Tutte directed by Michael Haneke. It was on the edgy side but exquisitely sung and acted by a cast of up and coming singers.

Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping
heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The
weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium
Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six
remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with
a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna
and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the
area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with
