Enjoying unusually warm mid-October sunny day we decided to walk to the Donauinsel with no expectations at all. Our intention was to take a look, maybe take a few photos and then return to the city overflowing with sights, attractions and challenges. The very few...More

Island in middle of Danube just outside Vienna. Great spot for cycling and jogging .. lots of open spaces and views across the river. Easy access, we walked out of city centre and down from the bridge. Hired cycle nearby and off we went. Fantastic...More

Beautiful city inhabited by sad people... Great architecture, great museums...but don't expect the people to be receptive to your innocent jokes.. Seems like each one has it's own circle...where you are not welcome... Too bad...

The Danube island is the best place if you need contact with mother nature and if you want to leave the city behind you. The air is super clean, you can sunbath or swim in the river. Bring a bottle of wine or some beers,...More

Great for a riverbank stroll or run, picnic, lots of trees and birds and views. An escape from the bustle and tourist traps of the city.

The Donauinsel is a narrow island in the middle of the Danube river in Vienna. U-Bahn (U1) will stop directly on the island, and you can walk across the bridge. Even in the winter time, it is still beautiful to see.

This place houses The Hope of the World church and is of Roman Catholic denomination. The church is located next to the Vienna International Centre and its architect is Heinz Tesar. A great reason to venture further than the city centre.

The city beach is worth a visit. Supply your own drinks/picnic from the supermarket, bring a bathing costume and a towel and head down for a river swim and views of the prater.

The nudist part is on the southern end of Donauinsel! Best way to get there: U1 station DONAUINSEL and then either walking (around 35 minutes) or faster on the bike
