Picturesque section of old Salzburg, the street a relic of Roman times, was once a center for tradesmen. Today it has become a refined area of stylish small bars, book and wine stores.

You can see the old buildings and a house where some musician was born, but not Mozart, he lived on different address wiith his father. This guy was someone else, he composed the holly night.

Nice narrow street with some medieval buildings but no great shakes, cant compare with streets in Strasbourg or Paris. Don't go out of you way yo see this street, stick to the Getreidegasse which is much more nteresting.

A wander along this street brings you to the birth place of Joseph Mohr the composer of Silent Night, Holy Night . The plaque is outside no 9 but apparently should be outside no 31 . It is an interesting little street in its own...More

An interesting street to walk along. Very busy, with lots of shops, many with the old signs hanging down.

I walked along the Steingasse to experience the history it offered and get a different view of the fortress across river. It's basically an alley that I didn't find it particularly interesting. The only thing I found interesting was the "Maison de Plaisir" which is...More

This is a quaint street for a stroll. It is better with some sort of guidebook to help interpret the various houses of interest. Otherwise its just a stroll.

It was the main entry from the south in ancient times and represents one of the oldest "streets" of the city. By modern measurements this narrow road is of cource not even worth considered a street. Nowadays car trafic is restricted and only people who...More

I got lost and found myself in that alley. It has an old gateway, interesting views of the dom quarters on the otherside of the river and an awesome view of the fortified wall on Kappuziner Hill. Plus it is the way to get up...More

This historic lane is from medieval times; Jews in Salzburg lived here in the 1400s before being expelled from Austria. It has some bars, some renovated homes and some run down places, but for a few blocks it is a fascinating walk through history. It...More
