From Vienna we took the train to Salzburg under 2 hrs, a wonderful train ride . We booked a bus city tour to visit the city with a guide , thru Vienna sighting tour company . The bus takes you thru the historic city of...More

We took the all-inclusive tour for which you need to pay around 3 euros extra. For these, you will get to see two extra rooms: the magical theater and the prince room. Would not do it again as it is not that interesting. The fortress...More

The premier place to visit in Salzburg! Best views in the immediate area. Very interesting history on how the castle developed over the centuries. Pay for the cable car ride if you like your thighs. Also get there early. Glad we did it was crazy...More

For me this was the best part of the trip to Salzburg. The view from the fortress is magnificent. Be sure to take the ride up just for this photo.

We missed getting a tour - got there too late in the date and were booked the next day for other events, but we took the cable car up, and just walked around. The views are stunning! From one side, you can see the whole...More

First, the hike. A lot of reviews are suggesting that it is difficult to climb. This could not be further from the truth. It took ten minutes to walk, most of which you are accompanied by a handrail and steps. The fortress itself is impressive...More

The Salzburg Fortress dominates the town, but like most castles its most impressive in that context. I'm not sure you really need to come up and view it up close. If you do, you can take the funicular, which is included in the Salzburg Pass...More

Nothing special, poorly manged, rude staff. Only good thing about this place is that it provides a panoramic view of Salzburg !

I don't think admission is free before 10:00 am. Admission for the all inclusive ticket is reduced if you purchase before 10:00. However, if you purchase online, the all inclusive ticket is not as expensive. As well, if you... More
