Definitely one of the most amazing small and cozy Austrian villages. Highly recommended. Worth a visit - I should recommend at least two nights, to have enough time to explore not only the Old Town but all the things near by too.

We went to Hallstatt for a daytrip from Salzburg, and didnt regret going. We took a train from Salzburg and changed to bus (that looks like a private car). Such a lovely little village, very instagrammable!

We called in this town as part of the Leger lakes tour. This is a lovely place, lots of colourful buildings and a beautiful setting by the lake. The people are very friendly and helpful. This place is well worth a visit.

It is a lowely old town with a lot of small streets with different view to the lake and the Hills. You can spend one day to discover all of the beauties here.

Hallstatt Old Town was about as charming as a village from a fairytale. Honestly, if you remember the villages from your storybooks, that's what it looks like... but better! Great place to spend the day walking around, and admiring the views. You'll definitely get great...More

This is a beautiful town- so special that it has been completed copied and recreated in China. The weather in this region is less predictable, but if you get beautiful weather, it is absolutely wonderful to walk through the old town and have lunch at...More

Yes, the ferry has limited hours. I recommend driving, cycling or walking from Obertraun to Hallstatt. The road along the lake is very scenic.
