Take the panorama funicular railway up the mountain at Hallstatt to discover the mysterious attraction of this mystical area. The path leads to the tunnel mouth and into a unique underground world first dug by hand more than 3000 years ago: many kilometres of tunnels lead deep into the rock interior. Enjoy a day full of fun and information at the Salt Mine Hallstatt for the hole family.

Once up the top of the mountain, it's a 15 minute steep walk to the entrance of the Salt Mines. You're given some protective clothes before entering the mines. It's a fully guided tour and our tour guide Lisa, spoke both German and English all...More

We really enjoyed our tour of the salt mine. To get to the mine you have to hike up, or take the funicular, and then walk up a hill about 15 minutes. The tour lasts about 90 minutes, and you walk down into the cave...More

We had Minnie as our tour guide and she was incredible. She jumped between German and English seamlessly. She was perfectly perky and simply talked right over any rude guests who were talking during her speech. The slides were fun and the experience was a...More

Wow! So many things to do in there! There are two slides: a smaller one and a bigger one. They are both a lot of fun, especially for families with children but also for adults. The guide was funny and nice and told us a...More

We chose this one since it boasts being the oldest in the world, and we're glad we did! The funicular straight up the mountainside is super fun and scenic. As other reviews note, it's still an upward quasi steep hike from there to get to...More

This is a really well organised enterprise. The tour is a decent length, the guide was well informed and spoke good English, and the history of the oldest salt mine in the world was fascinating. The only slight disappointment was that we didn’t actually see...More

There is a bit of walking from the cable car to the mine entrance. You may want to send them an email or Facebook message for more information and options. Enjoy your visit. Hallstatt is beautiful!
