Amazing History contained within the Walled City of Famagusta
We stayed inside the Walled City and we really enjoyed our 4 days there. So must history in one place, great authentic restaurants and local people. Close to the Ghost City with it's amazing and beautiful beaches and just down the road from the historic Salamis

    A magical day
I have never been in a mosque but this building is so beautiful I had to look inside. The whole walled city area give you a great look at history. As well as some fantastic views. The area has coffee shops and restaurants to keep you going. Take your time and climb the wall for a great view.

    Spectacular Old Town
If you are in N. Cyprus you really must visit Famagusta and its very beautiful walled city, wander the old buildings and ruins and soak up the history. There are good restaurants for the tired and hungry and some open markets for those in need of retail therapy. well worth the trip.

Not what I expected, famagusta the once happening place before 1974 is a run down area full of litter and very underwhelming,
You can’t deny the history and architecture which is extremely interesting in some areas but the ghost town was hard to understand why it’s still like that and other areas are up and running, I didn’t get a straight answer to that, I think it’s that they can’t afford to do the whole place up it costs too much is what someone said…

The Walled City - a beautifully preserved walled city full of history and boutique shops and cafes - a lovely way to spend a day exploring

Fantastic city, lost of ruins, clean and tidy, good restaurants and still cheap. Very close to the Ghost Town of Varosha which you can now visit - fascinating, unless your family was expelled from there.

Ending a fantastic day in the multi-layered environment of Famagusta's walled city, with roots going back to classic Greek culture over the Ottoman empire, the influence of Genua and Venice, British colonial rule and today's Turkey. Fascinating!

It’s very beautiful walled city with long tradition architecture and buildings from the old history. There a good restaurants and some open markets for shopping. You can pay in euro or Turkish lira. An must visit is the old church, wish is now an mosque.

The so-called ghost town is a misfortune left by the Turks in this form since 1974. Not only should it not be visited, it should be avoided, because it does nothing but show the traces of the hours of any war. I don't understand the appetite for such things. In any case, no matter where you are on the Turkish side, you feel some pressure. I saw a Turkish military car 500 meters from the border. The fact that prices are significantly lower in the Turkish area does not improve the situation at all. I couldn't wait to get back to the south area.

Overwhelming impression on whole of Famagusta / surrounds and of N Cyprus is the rubbish.
Locals use the streets as a dustbin - cups and cans hurled out of car windows and left to rot.
Even the much trumpeted eco turtle beach in the north was full of trash - poor animals !

Our hotel resort was v nice and clean the staff were ok but would absolutely not go back - period.
