The number 1 place to go to if you want to really see famagusta and understand why it is the way it js
What can I say about Mr John famagusta tour, unbeatable experience first hand experience from 2 people that lived in famagusta before and during the evacuation. You can really picture how it would have been walking around the ghost town before the terrible event. Mr John and Mr Ahmed tell you with such passion and heartache how it was for them as children over 40 years ago. I wouldn't go to see famagusta with anybody else, lovely air conditioned bus, great fun and laughter along with a slight mixture of sadness and anger for what they have had to go through.

    Simply fascinating
Would highly recommend going on this tour rather than any other, Mr John and Ahmed are 2 very good tour guides with the knowledge that only somebody that actually witnessed and lived the invasion would be able to give. Whilst also making it a very light hearted and also fun day, Ahmeds English is very good and you can sense immediately that although 1 is a Greek Cypriot and the other a Turkish Cypriot they are very nice genuine people and very good friends. Their stories are fascinating and I would definitely go again if I return to Protaras in the future. Thank you MrJohn and Ahmed it was a true pleasure to have met you both.

Great day out, very informative trip..!!
We booked on with mr john as recommended by other people that said this was a better trip than the open top bus, as they’d done both in the past and said mr johns trip was more informative. It was a great day out and mr john tells his story about his life from when he was a child and had to leave his home, we then got to the check point border where another tour guide ahmed joined us. Him and mr john have worked together for a long time doing this tour and they tell a great story packed with information but also they have a good laugh and great humour with each other. We enjoyed the day out and would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to do this trip.

    Strongly recommended!
I’d like to thank mr John and mr Akhmed for a perfect day in Famagusta. I found out a lot of interesting about this place, though I live in Cyprus and have been to Famagusta many times. The reason is simple: when one speaks from his heart about the most native and familiar place in the world, he always gives some peculiar information that can’t be provided by anyone else, therefore it’s always interesting and exciting. Thanks once again and let the Cyprus be united again!:)

    Memorable day
Excellent trip with guides who are personally affected by the conflict, one from each side. Interesting and moving to hear their personal experiences as well as information about the history. The old town was also excellent. A must for your trip🤩

Thought provoking, interesting, personal accounts of what happened in 1974
If you want to experience this in the most authentic way possible with true life accounts from both sides. This trip is interesting and thought provoking. Mr John and Ahmed were great sources of information and were able to share personal stories how this directly affected them and their families. This is the second time I have done the trip and it was just as enjoyable as the first time. I highly recommend them and would choose them for a trip as they can personally share their stories which makes this trip thought provoking and interesting.

Highly recommended, great value for money
This experience is great value for money and the hosts Mr John and Mr Ahmed are excellent, would recommend to all. The day starts with hotel pick ups and then you are taken by air conditioning bus to the green line, where you can get a drink and use binoculars to see both sides of the line. The trip then moves to Famagusta and Varosha where you explore with Mr Ahmed, do this trip, you will not regret it. Great value at 30 euros each.

    Simply the best!
Look no further for a personable and knowledgeable tour of Varosha/Famagusta by Mr John ably assisted by Ahmed. Lots of historical context passionately presented in a semi-humorous manner with added air conditioning. Highly recommended.

    Farmagusta trip - 28/07/2023
This was without doubt one of the best tours I have been on in over 20 years. The passion and knowledge shown by Mr John and his colleague Mr Ahmed was unbelievable. A story from both persons on both sides of the green line and how the splitting of Cyprus has impacted lives and politics of all impacted. The tour gave great personal views of the invasion and the resulting ‘green line’ from the 14th August 1974. The tour shows lots of places of interest and plenty of time to explore the festered town of Farmagusta and the walled city. If you want a trip which comes from the heart and gives a proper view of the Turkish / Greek divide, then this is the trip to go on. Will certainly book on and go in the future and recommend it to friends and family. Thank you Mr John and Mr Ahmed.

Excellent tour of Famagusta that we went on today . Fantastic history of the ghost town from Mr Johns experience. Mr Ahmet joined at the checkpoint and together they we very knowledgeable, funny and great hosts. The minibus had air conditioning and was very comfortable.
The only downside is mr John speaks quickly so at times is difficult to understand. Mr Ahmet did the ghost town walking tour and he’s very easy to understand. Free time in the walled city for shopping and lunch. Worth every penny!!

It was ok. The tour would have been better if there was free time to walk around Varosha Ghost city independently, like alot of other people were doing. It was sometimes very difficult to understand Mr John which makes me think we missed out on some of the interesting details he was sharing. It was a benefit to have the tour from people who had previously liked there.

Very interesting tour, loads of information about the history of the divide. Mr John talks alot, but unfortunately we didn't understand much. His colleague had excellent English though and was very entertaining and humble too. Thank you for sharing your stories and for making it a more personal tour. Even our teens were interested and engaged. We will remember it.

We have just had a personal journey back in time to 1974 by Mr John himself. He told us a certain amount of information about his background and life in Famagusta when he was a young boy of 15. He spoke about the fact he and his family had to leave everything behind to flee the invasion from the Turks. It was really fascinating. When we got to the border checkpoint we were joined by his good friend Mr Ahmed who was a retired schoolteacher and he took over the commentary of what was what and where we were going. The trip took overall about 7 hours. Going into see the ghost town of Virosha in Famagusta is something that will stick in my memory for a long time. This trip is worth every penny and more and if you are interested in this type of history and the real personal issues of that time then Mr John Tours is the one to take. Highly recommended and a wonderful day out.
