We stayed in the sanctuary on top of Casentino mountain for one night, only to find that it was not enough. It provided comfortable lodging and good food for visitors and pilgrims alike. This is the place where St. Francis was said to have received...More

We visited the Sanctuary by car. It is very high in the mountains and quite spectacular to visit. After a little walk we reached a place of such peace. I understand why Saint Francis chose this area. The church had many masses during the day....More

We approached Santuario della Verna on foot, walking through tall forests with moss covered rocks. Glimpses of cliffs were possible through the trees. We continued walking higher and then rounded a corner to be awestruck by the monastery built high above us. We stayed overnight...More

This is a very sacred place where St. Francis spent important time. This is located in the National forest where Francis received the stigmata of Jesus. It's extremely quiet and contemplative and very different from the commercial aspect of Assisi. If you are at all...More

La Verna is an excellent destination for those who want to experience some of the spirit of St. Francis. Yes, it is touristic, yes, it can be overcrowded at times, but in spite of all that, the place still has enough tranquility and atmosphere to...More

I have been going to La Verna for many years; it is a singularly overwhelming experience--both for the artwork and for the sheer spiritual nature of the place. Not to be missed.

Io penso che da Assisi sia possibile arrivare a La Verna con il Bus. Però bisogna chiederlo sul sito del Santuario o su google

I'm not sure, but would imagine that this is possible. You could probably go to their website and find out. It's really worth the effort to go here.
