Great base for the peninsula. Has bakery. Good coffee there. Has great heated swimming pool - did not try this but it looked great and was well used. Good restaurants. We missed out on the restaurant next to harbour hostel as it was booked out....More

There are so many new and modern, distinctive church buildings in Iceland, and this is one of my favorite too. You can enjoy the architecture from afar. Not to be missed, standing on top of the hill with an interesting structure. We did not have...More

I love this little town/village in Iceland. There is so much to do, from whale watching to walking around town. There is a nice shop with lots of woven items, made locally.

Modern day church which lacked any character, Set on the hill overlooking a lovely bay but for me this was the only redeeming feature. Filled in some time waiting for the ferry.

Drive up here and look at the church - it is not usually open - which is very unusual. Then admire the view of the town and the fjord. Well worth a quick stop.

This church is a must for visitors-so simple, so serene, so beautiful. It is situated on a high point at Stykkishhelmur and the design is a perfect fit with the geography.

We had seen this place in a video of the area and it also was the location of a geocache so we found our way here to check it out. This church is beautiful inside and out - the pipe organ inside is very interesting...More

We stayed in this small town and our room looked out on this beautiful church. Worth a walk, amazing church for a small town.

I knew about this church from the web and finally had a chance to visit it. The reality is much, much better than anything I saw online! First of all, instead of the usual cross and crucifixion, the central piece is (an Icelandic, modern) Madonna...More
