A must visit for those who know Roni Horn's work - approach with the mindset that this is a place of contemplation much like the Rothko Chapel. Allow your mind and metabolism to slow down and acclimate to the space: you are not at home;...More

This library is no ordinary library. It's contains water collection from 24 different glaciers exhibited in 24 columns of glass filled with water - created by artist Roni Horn. It's absolutely serine to experience and the building containing the collection is placed on the highest...More

I wasn't totally sure what to expect, but it's a place with columns of water from different glaciers and what not. Hence the name...library of water. There is literally nothing else interesting there. Skip it.

Difficult to describe, should definitely be experienced. This is the former library in Stykkisholmer, and now it's the setting for one of the more fascinating art installations I've ever seen, we had the place all to ourselves and it was a magical experience. Don't miss.

Head up to the Library of Water for an overview of the town, but unless you are into minimal or avant garde art, skip entering. We were told to remove our shoes of the full effect of 'feeling like you were stepping on moss covered...More

The view from the hill and from inside the house over the bay is extraordinary. The fabulous imiagination of the glacial water and the library itself.

A.k.a. Vatnasafn. Got the key from Arnor Oskarsson and padded around inside (no shoes allowed) for 15 or 20 min. The views of the picturesque little village are worth almost as much as the water tubes themselves, which aside from some settled sediment and slight...More

The Library of Water contains a number of purposefully arranged columns, each containing water melted from a different glacier in Iceland. With global warming in mind, the library serves as a last repository of Iceland's glacial heritage before one by one, the country's glaciers become...More
