It was at the Tourist Information Centre that we learned of a 2.5 hour tour of the West Fjords that runs twice daily. The tour leaves from the TIC and does not take reservations so arrive early.

We got some maps from the tourist information booth when we visited by ship and walked around the town. Very small town but lots of character, with old houses made from corrugated iron. Lovely bakery in the main street with delicious cakes and good coffee.

This was a good place to start. They gave us a map, and answered a few questions. There were restrooms on the premises. And it was warm inside. Then we did our own walking tour.

The staff of the tourist information center were very helpful with maps and directions. This small town is a gem with old houses from the 19th century. Great place to visit

We had questions about how the cruise ships affect the area and our ability to get a seat to each lunch. (Usually the cruise ships provide food for their clients so most people go back to the ship to eat lunch. While there are some...More

Information centre done right. I was interested mostly in hiking, visited the centre twice, met the same guy. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable about the area and mountains. He also printed bus schedules for me. While I was hanging around, seen him talking with several...More
