Beautiful falls. Well worth the drive out of the city. Peaceful, beautiful and so picturesque. The weather in late October was a mix of snow and rain. So dress warm and waterproof if traveling in October. There is a cafe near the parking lot with...More

Barnafoss looks a bit different from other waterfalls. It’s multiple falls are beautiful. Great to view and listen to the water rushing through the lava rocks. The sun and clouds made for beautiful pictures.

Hraunfossar consists of an almost 1 km series of low waterfalls emerging from a lava bed and falling into the Hvita river. It's very attractive and extremely photogenic, though many of Iceland's high waterfalls are more dramatic. Well maintained paths and bridges enable a variety...More

These waterfalls are very unique as the water runs underneath the lava and then seems to just come out of nowhere through the lava walls and fall into the river. I can honestly say that each time I am there I always am mesmerised and...More

This is a most unusual sight -- multiple waterfalls coming from just under the surface of lava and falling into a river. It is a sight I have never before. We view it from across the river. Very majestic.

These Falls near Barnafoff Falls are different because it is water that is running out of the lava tubes over a very large area. It is actually very interesting to see the water coming out of the lava fissures and was particularly beautiful with the...More

This is a stunning set of waterfalls, more like a flood plain running over lava rock into a river. The colors of the landscape and water are incredible. The falls are unique and easily became my favorite of all Iceland’s waterfalls. Barnafoss are I the...More

Very beautiful waterfall, as are most in Iceland! This one is unique because the water comes out of the rock rather than from a typical river. The river is brilliant blue from glacier melt, and the September tree colors were fantastic. Worth the drive for...More

There is no shortage of water in Iceland, or waterfalls. We went to west of Reyjkavis and we visited the Hraunfossar waterfalls where water seems to burst through lava formations. The Barnafoss falls is near here. We also visited Viogelmir lava tube cave. You can...More
