The main library of Turku is built of two parts. The older one is over 100 years old and the newer from 2000’s. At times there’s a difficulty with having a quiet moment to read as in vast areas talking out loud is permitted. Some...More

Apparently the old library is a must see because of it's wooden architecture, inside the building. Yet, I believe it is a must see because of the great work to connect the old and new library. Great location to work and chill.

I visited this place towards the end of my trip. It was more a case of just not having anything else to do. Have to admit it is one of the best libraries I've ever seen. If I was a resident I could see myself...More

The city library has two sections, one in an old building, while the other in a modern building. There's also a cafe within/next to the library. Also its interesting to see that people actually can eat inside the library.

This is not just your average city library. It is a historic building in a Neoclassical style with columns and fine brickwork. It isn't everywhere the local library has a reading room with Corinthian columns! I came in here to enjoy the historic architecture but...More

It's located on the banks of the Aura in the heart of the historical city of Turku. I love the building - an architectural feat combining the 109 year old library with a new glass palace. The old doors and staircase are magnificent and the...More

To be fair we only visited the lobby because there was construction going on inside but we did enjoy the huge statue in the lobby as well as the creative digital art displayed on the wall.
