The tram net is very good in Helsinki. You can buy day tickets etc.. in a good price. Taxies are expensive in Finland so it is clever to use trams and metro.

Very clean efficient and on time. Boards at most stops inform you of the next tram and up to date times. Download the HSL app for the best prices on tickets. Available in Engish too.

A fairly standard modern quick and functional system - single ticket costs can add up and maybe a day card would be useful - useful for West Harbour and from a late ferry back from Tallin

I would suggest you get a day ticket for a 24hr period use. The entire public transport system is very good.

The trams are very good options to see Helsinki sites. One can't buy tickets in tram and they have to get tickets from vending machines which are difficult to find. A lot of machines accept coins only and it was difficult to find change in...More

All the trams from the West terminal will take you to the city center, i.e. 6, 6T and 9. From the Eastern terminal you can take tram 2 from the harbour heading west/northwest.

My mistake I thought that I was writing about the Sapporo trams in Japan. My friend paid the ticket in Helsinki which she purchased at the hotel reception. Sorry for the previous confusion.
