Designed by the incomparable Engel and completed in the mid 1830s it sits atop the hill an enjoyable walk from the Market Square. With an imposing entrance and grand facade it has been the centre of research and studies since its inception.

I thought I knew Helsinki fairly well but never knew about this Observatory being open to the public and businesses for special meetings. Very interesting old place. The tour was excellent and the tour was exceptional. Very unique central location.
