Clean, safe and quiet.
Plenty of parking and space on the beach.
Only thing that gives it away as a tourist place are the prices in the Restaurants.

Very laid back , relaxed beach town, however zero pride taken by the local authority and residents to keep it clean and neat. First day encountered loads of rubbish on beach, broken alcohol bottles along sidewalks, in bushes and foliage. Local restaurants' prices are exorbitant and unjustified for their sub-standard quality. Rather drive 10kms to umhlanga or 25 mins to Ballito for more choice and fair value. If you're into beach hopping along the coast every day like we are, then Umdloti is a great option as a sleeping base, given its convenient location situated between umhlanga and Ballito.

The beach are EXTREMELY dirty with plastic litter everywhere. Pieces of sharp wire in the sand hurting the children.
Why don't the community of this town stand together and employ a few workers to clean the beach every day.

stayed with a companion who luckily lives there opposite the beach and was stunned from day one at just how clean and beautiful the beach is. Conservation work and weekly patrols by Municipal workers keep the beach as litter clean as possible but its also helped by the people who visit

I was here January 2022 and found the beach mostly clean and safe, but very busy. Parking can often be a problem in the high season but patrols are there to help. The beach slopes very steeply and there is a strong undertow so one cannot easily venture into the surf without a surfboard or paddle board or kayak. There are a few sheltered places near some rocks but caution is advised. The sand is very coarse and angular so not so smooth on the feet. There are more than adequate amenities, including toilets and shower to wash off the salt. A really nice family friendly setting.

Very sad to see the bad state that this beautiful beach is in. Locals flock to the beach and drink alcohol in public, litter and leave all their rubbish lying around. No policing visible. Cars park on pavements and people sit on sidewalks drinking alcohol and playing loud music.
Only dustbins on street level are being emptied, those closer to the beach overflow with litter and monkeys dig and make a big mess.

We visited in the off-peak period and the beach was relatively quiet and peaceful. The tidal pool is a great way to have fun especially if you have children. Clean and safe.

A nice beach to visit for a family with large natural tidal beach for swimming or snorkeling.
Best to visit at low tide.
Only negative is no public bathroom or change rooms.
