The grounds are massive and even with all of the tours most of the spaces are not crowded. The only places this is not true is at the entrance of the stadium. This was very crowded due to the narrow entrance and everyone wanting to...More

Olympia takes you back in time to the first Olympic Games. When you walk around in Olympia, you can feel the history. The Olympic Flame is still lighted in Olympia, so history becomes the present every 4th year.

We had a really good guide book, so we were able to navigate our way through the ruins. Our book included pictures of what each ruin looked like back in time. Make sure you allow plenty of time, there is a lot to see. The...More

Visited whilst spending one day in Katakolon on a P&O cruise. The site is large and if you hoping to see temples etc you will be disappointed as these have been destroyed by the ravages of time and earthquakes. Our guide was excellent explaining each...More

There really isn't much left of the ancient site apart from the site of the stadium, the effects of earthquakes and time having taken their toll. It is difficult to imagine what this site was like in ancient times as most temples have been reduced...More

This site is an impressive testament to the ancient Greeks. The museum was overwhelming after awhile and I enjoyed the ruins most. Fortunately it wasn't too hot when we visited. I think a hot summer day with crowds would be challenging. The staff were not...More

Visited this site having caught a bus tour from Katakolon Port. The journey time is 45 minutes in each direction. This is a huge site. The reasonable admission fee is for the site and three museums. I am a heathen. I really do appreciate archaeological...More

This place is so old that even the original stones have been eroded. Though one can still see or imaging how it was like during the ancient games. It helps to have a tour guide explaining things, since there is not description on site otherwise.

Visited here with my wife while stopping in Katakalon. We decided to use the train to get here instead of the many offers of coaches and private transfers. ..it was comfortable and air conditioned and recommended. The museum in Olympia was incredible, some of the...More

The Archaeological site is conveniently close to the main entrance and the Museum of the Olympic Games. We found the history of the Olympic Games fascinating and would suggest visitors spend at least 2 - 3 hours touring and experiencing this site.

As mentioned, go when the facility opens. It will give you time to wander in peace and take it the sites. The walking is easy...no hills. Please allow time to visit the museum. Tour groups can be an issue. People are running... More

Hello, the site is amazing, you should allocate a morning visiting the site, there are 3 museums on site, refreshments are available in one of the museum, sensible shoes should be worn.
