Excellent food and location

We moored our boat up here and stayed for two months. A beautiful little island with gorgeous beaches and very few tourists. Some days you could have the beach all to yourself and not see a soul. A couple of little tavernas and amazing views, would highly recommend.

Mathraki
Oct 2017 • Couples
Decided to go to mathraki and as luck would have it it was the worst day weather wise, it was 15 euros per person and that included the transfer from arillas to San Stefano where the boat left from. It was very quiet on the island and the rain stayed off but it was a tad windy.
I would recommend a visit to the island, I think it would be busier high season.

Delightful solitude
Aug 2016 • Couples
Visited for a day using a local ferry service. A delightful and scenic ideal - a real 'get away from it all' experience. Only a very small population and a handful of other visitors. Local people very friendly. We had the whole sandy beach to ourselves. Cant wait to return.

travel by boat, either from san stenfanos,or sidari. We travelled by ferry for a couple of euros, return. The trip takes about 45 mins, where you stop at a little harbour. There is a large taverna which stocks everything. The beach is long and sandy,For a few euros more the man from the Taverna will pick u up in his mini bus and take you round the island. Well worth the visit

Very peaceful and small island off Corfu

We had an interesting few hours on Mathraki. Unfortunately, it was so hot that we had little energy to go over to the other side of the Island where they have a little bay that I wanted to visit but we will save it for next time.

The boat trip from San Stefanos (public boat) takes about half an hour - a lovely breezy trip.

Mathraki itself has very little on it but there were 2 tavernas we visited - one with a lovely view across to Corfu and the usual Greek Salad etc

The best thing about being on the Island was that you saw virtually no one and at one point we had the whole beach to ourselves. This, by the way, was extremely shallow.

My only criticism of the island is that it needs some TLC - the beach at the front is covered in dried sea grass and the little harbour is quite smelly from the stench of it's seagrass growing there. However, the Island needs funds to get this cleared so if you can buy a Mathraki T-shirt in the lower Taverna. where the boats come in, this will contribute to the Islanders being able to clear this up in the future!

Nice little trip if you want a change from the main island.

Nice area for shopping.

Good shopping for tourists with local buys and virgin olive oil.Quite a good trip around the north side of the island of Corfu which is very green that is why it is called the Emerald Isle as in the winter it gets a lot of rain.
