This is the oldest neighborhood of modern Athens, settled originally by Greeks returning to their newly freed capital. Old, narrow streets, quaint houses, crooked stairways, beautiful plantings. Always quiet. Tread softly; don't make a nuisance for the people who still live there.

This was particularly hard to find, but once I did, I was stunned!! This little village in the heart of Athens is quiet, hidden and away from the buzzing city.... Is like if you took a trip and suddenly you appeared in Santorini!!

Lovely stroll above Plaka. Its very hilly, so be prepared to "hike". It view and the distinct homes are very characteristic of cycladic architechure

Hard to find because it’s a misnomer - it’s an area and google map take you on the wrong side! What a waste of time in hot summer of Greece!

Everything that has been said about this tiny neighborhood is true, and it is worth the difficulty to experience it, especially if you do not have the opportunity to visit a Greek island.

Small and narrow streets, uneven steps, steep paths and white houses with colorful details are the best way to come down from the Acropolis to Plaka. The neighborhood was built in a typical Cycladic style and you can feel the spirit of Greek islands in...More

Getting lost in its narrow streets is wonderful, you will feel as if you were in one of the Cyclade Islands right in the middle of Athens. It's totally a hidden gem thanks to some Anafi's construction workers who came in the 19th century and...More

Hi Anafiotika is not on the side of the Acropolis where the museum is. It's on the Plaka side. Adrianou is the main shopping street in the Plaka. If you climb the narrow streets towards the Acropolis and above the Agora... More
