Small area filled with shops and restaurants. Lots of touristy trinkets. Good place to walk thru on your way to or from the Acropolis.

Interesting part of Athens full of little shops, cafes and restaurants. One of the most picturesque areas of the city -not wondering why it was the old town. Small paved streets and stoned houses standing under the hill of Acropolis.

The Plaka is the sprawling shopping district in Athens. It is relatively safe - our tour company Gate 1 Travel suggested we keep any bags or backpacks in the front of us, but otherwise we could explore to our hearts content, and we did!

What a great, safe, 'something for everyone' place to enjoy one, two, or three days. Little shops, home-sick Starbucks, Greek cuisine and the jewellery with Greek history in it - I could spend a week in the Plaka and love every second. The people are...More

Right "around the corner" from our hotel. Had two meals at a couple of "hole in the wall restaurants" (filed with locals) which were really good. Lots of cheap and not so cheap souvenirs for sale here...

Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains
the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay

pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious

I was there a few weeks ago, and it was 60F, which was absolutely perfect. I would say mid-November would be lovely, especially if it thins the crowds down a bit. It rained, and I adored sitting in front of a cafe drinking... More

We were there during the first week of October, and it was great beach weather. Can't say what it was later, but it was warm in Athens.
