My wife had undertaken a lot of walking so it was a relief to hop onto the Funicular down near the Dom Luis Bridge and take the ride back to the top near Batalhas again. The views of the Douro are spectacular going up and...More

Tie this in with a trip around the Cais/Gaia and the Se Cathedral and get some great photos of the bridge too. Its pretty inexpensive and runs from the foot of the Ponte Luis I up to the area around the Se Cathedral.

After our wander on the river we headed to the small funicular to take us back up the bluff to Santa Carolina. Small fee one way of 2.5 eu. Small queue and short wait. GOOD view of the underbelly of the big bridge. Kind of...More

Great way for getting to the higher levels of the town or the higher level of the bridge. Reasonably priced.

It costs 2.50 euro. I guess it saves you some walking but honestly I’m not sure it’s worth it. They crammed too many people in it and you still had to climb up flights of stairs when you left the funicular. Views are ok, but...More

If you need assistance getting form riverside to the top of the city, this is just what you need. Great views from the top and worth every penny. Don’t struggle with the hills, take the funicular.

It's a steep walk up to the top level of the Luis l bridge. Considering how cheap transport is in Porto I was quite surprised that it cost €2.50 but if you stand at the front it's a great photo opportunity but be quick. I...More

A fun ride up the hill with good views over Porto and the River Douro. Relatively inexpensive at €2.50 for a single journey and worth a visit if you're in Porto.
