The walls outside are a classic shot of Porto, there are usually cars parked there that will be in any photo hehehe. The insides are like any other church in my opinion, but the tile works outside are worth a stop.

What a nice surprise to see the azulejos from the street corner. Around 11:00 am and 1:00 pm should be the best time of the day. Worth the walk on Santa Catarina Street.

This is a very impressive and beautiful church. The tiles on the exterior are very nice. The interior is ornate and over-top-decorative. The organ is unusual, in that, there are horizontal horns protruding from the pipe area. We recommend this church highly.

The church was nice, but nothing special. The pictures on the outer wall were nice to look at, but there are several churches like this in Porto.

Built in the 18th century for Carmelite monks, the exterior walls are beautifully finished in azulejos (tiles) and the interior was also beautiful. For a small fee you can also visit the "hidden house" which is only approx 1 meter wide and has just 1...More

This is one of the finer examples of churches in Porto. It dominates the square which is surrounded by museums, churches and parks. Well worth a visit

This is actually two churches located wall to wall, with the so called Hidden House crammed between them. The hidden house is like a three room apartment within the church structure, with one room on each floor. The church interior is quite small and has...More

I accidentally noticed and was fascinated with this church, across from the No. 18 tram station. As the picture shows whole exterior walls are covered with beautiful blue-and-white tiles they call Azulejos. So I went close and looked at them closer. They elaborately tell stories...More
