Castelo de Braganca is a very well preserved medieval castle in Portugal, in the historic centre of Santa Maria. Built in 1409.

Visited this castle - fortress and it was very interesting with explanatory posters dotted around. You can walk around the battlements if you're not subject to vertigo! Panoramic views of Bragança town.

The castle had great views of the surrounding countryside. You can walk the walls, being able to go almost all the way around the entire enclosure for free but must pay to see the interior of the main tower which is a military museum.

One of the most beautiful castles we saw in a long tour. Rivals others that are better known. Interesting museum with relic weapons and historical information. Inside staircases and rooms quote attractive. Great job of restoration.

Castelo's by the dozen in Portugal. Nice walk up the hill, well maintained and houses a military museum which was closed at the time we were there.

The castelo de Braganca is located on a high summit offering its visitors the most magnificent views. You can look to Spain and almost see the Atlantic. It has a military museum which gives a great insight in the Portuguese conquests and wars...
