It is a must, if you are fit enough and love hikes. The route provides a lot of magnificent views. However, I wouldn't go there in the windy or rainy weather.

We left our hotel at 5.45am and travelled by minibus as the roads are too narrow and precipitous for coaches. We arrived at Pico do Arieira whilst it was still dark. We were provided with blankets and torches. (Wear good footwear if you visit, as...More

We took a trip to visit the sites and some of the scenery on this tour was breath taking, while traveling we were given information about the area and villages we went through. Well worth doing the organised trips.

Hi, It should be possible with children of that age, because the walk path is well prepared but it is a bit hilly. You can choose to just walk a part of the track depending of how well trained you are.
