Really loved this place. Very atmospheric and steeped in history. There are lots of wines to choose from and you can taste any of them before you buy. Several nice gift boxed options for presents to take home.

We were invited to a tasting here, from the arrangement of Habemus Vinium, and what a tasting it was. We were led by Luis d'Oliveira, one of the brothers running the wine house today and taught about the grapes, the maturation and the years. A...More

4 types of wine tasted (from dry to sweet) together with a bola de mel (traditional funchal cake) in a cosy and exquisite atmosphere. Prices are OK, but you can find the wines at better prices elsewhere.

We finished the tour of Madeira with a wine tasting here. We went in --no welcome---were shown 3 bottles plonked on the table and 3 tiny sherry glasses to taste of each one. No talk, no atmosphere or anything---looked just like a shop--stayed 10 minutes--can...More
