We had an amazing experience at Cooking Lisbon. Chefs Pedro and Philippa walked us to the Market where they explained what we were buying and why. Chef Pedro even changed up the menu slightly when the intended ingredient was not up to this standards. They were very patient while we were learning new skills. The food was excellent and so was the wine. I would recommend Cooking Lisbon to anyone and would consider doing another class if we ever get back to Lisbon

My son and I had an amazing time at Cooking Lisbon! Our hosts were wonderful, their knowledge and skills were evident and they were very friendly and helpful. The market that we toured at the beginning of the class was beautiful! Full of fish, produce, baked goods, and so much more. A feast for the senses! We were able to try some traditional breads, which delicious. The accompanying history of the bread was very interesting. The cooking portion of the class was informative and so fun! We were lucky to be with, not only the great staff but also a great group of students. Everyone was so fun to be around and get to know, if only a little bit. The cooking was shared between us all. Chef gave us directions and guidance and put us to work! Appetizer, main dish, and dessert, all delicious. There was also wine and port involved. So delicious! I would 100% go again if I ever get to visit Lisbon again. Thank you Cooking Lisbon for a wonderful day!

We had such a wonderful time learning to cook amazing Portuguese dishes with a thoughtful teacher and engaging travelers. The class began with an informative and fun walk to a lively local market where we learned so much about the region and its bounty.

Back in the kitchen, we got to know eachother while enjoying flamed chourico, bread, cheeses, drinking the first of the lovely wines. Then we got to work as our teacher divided us into efficient teams working on aspects of our meal while listening to Fado music. Besides tackling our own dish, we peeked over the shoulders of the others to learn how everything was made. I especially appreciated learning how to debone a whole fish into fillets, so useful!

In the end, we toasted one another with more tasty wine, traded stories and marveled with every bite. We had created such an unbelievably delicious meal, seafood cataplana, garlicky mushrooms, and light orange cake! Can’t wait to recreate this at home.

This was the second time we booked this. My husband and I loved it so much last time we were in Lisbon, we decided to experience it again. The atmosphere and food are really fun. Would highly recommend to couples or friends looking for a fun night!

We enjoyed this experience and the food was delicious. However, we would suggest focusing on 1 or 2, at most 3 dishes so that the group can learn how to make the dishes. The group was stationed doing certain tasks for 5 or 6 dishes and we didn't feel like we learned how to make any particular dish. That being said, our instructor did a great job of balancing everything and making sure the meal turned out nice. We did enjoy the food, the wine and the snacks pre cooking.

The cooking class was the highlight of an amazing trip to Portugal. It was great starting at the market, learning about food and history and then back to the kitchen. Paulo was the star- great teacher, couples therapist (maybe we can cook together in the kitchen) and amazing host. The food was very tasty and the wine was flowing but Sharing a meal with Paulo was the highlight. We felt like a guest in his house. Can’t recommend enough.

We had a fun evening cooking dinner with a group of new friends. We really enjoy taking cooking classes when we travel. This one was a bit different, usually it’s a few dishes, everyone prepares everything and learns new techniques and gets recipes and a meal. This one was many appetizers, one main, one dessert. We had a typical Portuguese charcuterie board spread with wine ahead of time. The premise was: this is you coming to a friend’s home to eat together. As a cooking class, everyone had a station and much of the preparation was already done so it was “plug and play” with less hand on learning for everyone at every station but still a fun night with good food.

Carina and her staff create such a warm and inviting experience! It’s amazing how many recipes they pack into the time. You’ll taste some of the best dishes of Portuguese culinary history and leave knowing how to recreate them in your own kitchen. It was hands down one of the most memorable moments of our trip to Lisbon. Highly recommended!
