Neighbourhood: Belém
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.

Nice for chilling out
Dec 2019
This is a really nice place to take a walk, a nice run or a picnic with friends or family. It is very quiet and peaceful, great to relax and lay in the grass enjoying the sun and read a book, for example. It has well maintained windmills but you're not allowed to see the interior, never the less you have a great view over the city and the river.
The park have a restaurant where you may enjoy a light meal or just a cup of coffee, and a playground for kids to play.
During school time, in the spring and summer is very common to see schools making picnics in here so, since there's few tables and benches, you may have to make your picnic in the grass.
Also the picnic area don't have barbecue facilities and I believe it is not allowed to start any kind of fire.

A nice place for a picnic
Sep 2012 • Family
On the top of a small hill facing the tagus river a couple of windmills remind us that this parte of Lisbon was once a very rural place. For a few years now the windmills set the decor for this little park. It has a few shady areas perfect for a family picnic and in the bottom of the hill there is a playground for children and also a small lake. It is a nice place for a picnic inside the city, although the terrain has a bit of inclination!
