If you expect more than walk down a cave, then this is not for you. Going down and have the opportunity to see how nature works into creating this amazing cave. An simple idea of how volcanoes can transform and became a wonder of nature.

Awesome experience walking down into a cave. Limited hours so be sure to check availability before booking. Also, you can buy a two-cave pass for this one and the other (about 15 minutes away).

Hawaii, Iceland, and the Azores, so far. Well worth doing. The other volcano, which is a different type is also worth the effort, just keep your helmet on and duck your head ! This one opens to the sky and the minerals and growth on...More

My husband is claustrophobic. We both had bad backs and were hobbling on this trip [and we're not young]. So, the thought of going down a bunch of steps [what goes down must go up], hoisting our fat selves up... seemed daunting. Until you get...More

I believe it's open all year round. We were there in January. It is only open in the afternoon. Enjoy your trip. I love the Azores!
